I can add a border around the outside which starts to bring it out
see what happens now i insert a diamond shape in the middle
Add a couple more diamonds to increase the contrast
Again same pattern but another cutout this time in the middle tile,
a small terracotta piece to match the small outside corners

the look of the design
As you can see subtle changes to the design make a difference
